2005 Conservative Clubs

In February 2005, the CI together with The General Educational Association held another from the series of events called Conservative Clubs. This Club was devoted to A Draft of New Criminal Code that represents a very moving topic in Slovakia at the time. Daniel Lipšic, Minister of Justice as a proposer of the law discussed the topic with Peter Osuský, the Vice-Chancellor of Comenius University and Vice-Chairman of the Civic Conservative Party, Peter Weiss, a senior lecturer and Darina Michalková, the Vice-Chairman of The Slovak Bar Association.


On April 14, 2005, a Conservative Club devoted to the topic of A Catholic Church after John Paul II was held. František Mikloško, a Member of the Slovak Parliament who represents the Christian Democratic Movement and Jozef Haľko, a theologist and ecclesiastical historian, discussed the future of the catholic church, the legacy of Pope John Paul II and the changes taking place in the world after he passed away.


On June 8, 2005, the CI held a Conservative Club devoted to the topic of the Forest Act. Zsolt Simon, the Minister of Agriculture and Ján Ďurský, the Director-General of the Forestry Section of the Ministry of Agriculture, as proposers of a new act discussed the topic with Róbert Oružinský, forest ranger, the Environmental NGOs Platform for NATURA 2000 and Juraj Vanko, the Chairman of the Union of Regional Associations of the Non-State Forest Owners. The Conservative Club was hosted by the CI analyst for agrarian and environmental policy Radovan Kazda.


The 21st conservative club place in Bratislava on September 14, 2005. The topic of Education System Reform was discussed with Martin Fronc, the Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic, Ján Pišút, profesor of physics in Comenius University and former Minister of Education in 1990-1992, Miron Zelina, the Director of the Institute of Humanities in the Faculty of Education of Comenius University in Bratislava, Attila Fodor, the Director of non-profit organization Comenius – Institute for Education of J. Selye University in Komárno and Zuzana Humajová, CI analyst. Peter Zajac, the President of CI, was the moderator.


The 22nd conservative club took place in Bratislava on October 3, 2005. Peter Gonda, CI economist, discussed with Vladimír Tvaroška, the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Slovak Republic on the topic of National Budget for the Election Year. Robert Žitňanský, an editor of .týždeň, was the moderator.
