· Europe's Future in Bratislava

On March 11th, 2009, Civic Institute organized, in cooperation with KI, a seminar on Europe's Future in Bratislava. The following contributed with their lectures to this seminar: Roman Joch, Peter Osuský, František Šebej, Vladimír Palko and Matyáš Zrno.


· Waste and the Local Governments

On April 2nd, 2009, KI organized conference the Development Alternatives for Waste Management in Slovakia (Waste and the Local Governments) in the KDAH Great Hall in Ružomberok.


· CEQLS lecture: Samuel Gregg: The Financial Crisis: Government Intervention and Moral Failure

On May 14th, 2009, KI organized another CEQLS lecture in collaboration with SKOI and with support of the main partner Penta Investments. In Bratislava, upon KI invitation, Samuel Gregg, the Research Director in Acton Institute (US), gave a lecture on the topic of The Financial Crisis: Government Intervention and Moral Failure.


· Free Market Road Show 2009: The Financial Crisis: Government Failure or Market Failure?

On May 15th, 2009, an international conference The Financial Crisis: Government Failure or Market Failure? was held within Free Market Road Show in Bratislava. KI has been one of the partners of the conference where, among others, the following gave lectures: Samuel Gregg from Acton Institute, Marcel Guarnizo from EICEE, Myron Scholes, Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences and Daniel Mitchell and Richard Rahn from Cato Institute.


· Transparency and Efficiency in the EU Funds Exploitation in Slovakia

On June 15th, 2009, KI with the support of Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe organized the conference Transparency and Efficiency in the EU Funds Exploitation in Slovakia in Devín hotel in Bratislava. The following gave their lectures therein: Zuzana Wienk, Aliancia Fair-Play, Ivan Kuhn, KI, Pavel Nechala, TIS, Ctibor Košťál, SGI, Roman Havlíček, Friends of the Earth-CEPA, Martin Plesch, EUREA, Vladimír Šárnik, EUREA, Radovan Ďurana, INESS and Dušan Sloboda, KI.


· Slovakia and Israel

On September 21st and 22nd, 2009, the ODM Local Club of Bratislava and Youth Likud, in co-operation with KI, Slovak Union of Jewish Youth and the Bratislava Jewish community, organized a cycle of lectures Slovakia and Israel.


· CEQLS lecture: Jesús Huerta de Soto: The Financial Crisis and the Economic Recession

On September 28th, 2009, KI organized another CEQLS lecture in collaboration with SKOI and with the support of Penta Investment. This time, Jesús Huerta de Soto, a professor of Economy in Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, gave a lecture on The Financial Crisis and the Economic Recession.


· I.O.U.S.A.

On October 27th, 2009, KI organized the documentary film projection called I.O.U.S.A. (2008, USA, 85 min.) in Bratislava. This film deals with the causes and consequences of the financial crisis and public debt. The film projection was followed by a discussion with the economists Vladimír Vaňo and Juraj Karpiš on the given issues. Mr. Peter Gonda, the KI economist, was the moderator.


· CEQLS lecture: Gene Smiley: Great Depression and Current Economic Crisis: Similarities and Differences

On November 23rd, 2009, KI organized another CEQLS lecture in collaboration with SKOI and with the support of Penta Investment. This time Gene Smiley, professor emeritus in Economy at Marquette University, Milwaukee, gave a lecture in Bratislava on Great Depression and Current Economic Crisis: Similarities and Differences.
