About Shane Frith
Shane Frith is the director of New Direction – The Foundation for European Reform, a Brussels based free market think tank dedicated to encouraging and leading a debate about how to make European nations more prosperous, free and secure.
Before his appointment to New Direction, Shane worked for a number of think tanks in the United Kingdom, including Progressive Vision, Institute of Economic Affairs, Reform, Open Europe and Global Vision. Prior to his current position, he was the director of Progressive Vision which campaigned for radical reform of Britain’s healthcare system.
He has been a parliamentary candidate for the New Zealand National Party – the conservative party – and held a number of senior positions within this party. Between 2002 and 2004 he was the chairman of the International Young Democrat Union, an organisation linking young people involved in centre-right parties worldwide. He has advised conservative MPs in both Britain and New Zealand and has run a number of businesses including a start-up Internet retailer.
